Hedgehog Ollie recovers in Devon after severe infection

A hedgehog named Ollie is undergoing recovery at the Prickles in a Pickle Wildlife Sanctuary in Stoke Fleming, Devon, after a ringworm and bacterial infection caused him to lose nearly all his prickles.

Co-founder Judy Thomson reported that the infection caused severe crusting around Ollie's face, making eating painful and causing him to bleed. Due to warmer weather in the UK, parasites and infections like ringworm have not been eliminated by winter frost, contributing to such cases.

While Ollie remains in captivity for treatment, he is reportedly eating independently and maintaining his weight. His unusual appearance has gained significant online attention, with social media posts helping the charity raise nearly £5,000.
