HEDNO Kifissia electrical grid undergrounding infrastructure investment

HEDNO (DEDDIE) has announced a major project to underground electrical networks in the Municipality of Kifissia, Greece. The initiative aims to modernize the distribution network, enhance reliability, and improve the urban environment.

The project has a total budget of 33.4 million euros. Funding is split between 19.7 million euros from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance—sourced through the Environment and Climate Change Program and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)—and 13.7 million euros provided by HEDNO as part of its 2027 resilience project budget.

The work will be carried out gradually across the three municipal units of Kifissia, Nea Erythraia, and Ekali, specifically targeting areas with existing overhead Medium Voltage networks. The project is expected to take three years to complete and includes the installation of approximately 124 kilometers of new underground Medium Voltage network and 86 kilometers of mixed Medium and Low Voltage network.
