Hefaiston festival draws hundreds of blacksmiths to Helfštýn Castle

The Hefaiston festival at Helfštýn Castle has drawn hundreds of artistic blacksmiths from over fifteen countries. Participants include craftsmen from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Japan, Canada, and Israel.

Castellan Jan Lauro noted that approximately 500 blacksmiths were expected to attend over the weekend. The event features 257 registered exhibits displayed across the castle grounds, including large-scale works on the second courtyard.

A major highlight for visitors is the live creation of works on the third courtyard, where teams of blacksmiths have three hours to complete a piece for evaluation by a professional jury. The festival continues to maintain traditions, such as the participation of descendants of Alfred Habermann, one of the founders of the event.
