Heidelberg B3/B535 crash leads to road closure and driver arrest
Shortly after 01:00 am on the B3/B535 between Heidelberg‑Kirchheim and Leimen, a 25‑year‑old driver from Wiesloch lost control of his Toyota, struck the median and a guardrail, and came to rest in the roadside ditch. The vehicle was a total loss and several traffic signs and posts were damaged. Because the collision released fluids, a specialist firm was hired to clean the roadway. Police, rescue services and the fire brigade responded, and the road was reopened around 04:00. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol; a blood sample was taken, his licence was seized and he now faces charges for endangering traffic.
The incident was recorded as a larger‑scale traffic accident by local authorities, but no injuries were reported.
