The new Rader Hochbrücke will be completed by installing its 118‑metre steel middle span, weighing about 1,250 tonnes. The piece, prefabricated and corrosion‑treated at the Rendsburg port, will be transported roughly six kilometres to the bridge.

Einhub (lifting) work is scheduled for 15 – 16 July 2026. During this window the Nord‑Ostsee‑Kanal between kilometre 67.2 and 69.6 will be closed, from 17:00 on 15 July until 09:00 on 16 July, to allow the bridge segment to be positioned. After the installation the first part of the new bridge will be closed, enabling traffic to shift onto the new structure and later demolition of the old bridge.

The project is coordinated by DEGES, which reported that by December 2025 most of the 1,500‑metre structure was already in place, with only the central segment remaining.
