Heidelberg Materials closes French plant and expands in Peru

Heidelberg Materials is undergoing a strategic restructuring to address stagnant demand in the European construction sector. As part of this move, the company plans to close its cement plant in Ranville, France, a decision that will affect 87 employees.

To offset European capacity reductions, the company is expanding its presence in growth markets. Heidelberg Materials has agreed to acquire a 70 percent stake in Cementos Inka in Peru, with the transaction expected to close in October 2026.

Additionally, the company is modernizing an oven line in Airvault to reduce its production CO2 footprint by approximately 30 percent. These maneuvers come as the company's stock price nears its 52-week low, reflecting broader market concerns regarding the European building industry.
