Heidelberger Druckmaschinen appoints Christoph Burkhard as new CFO

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG has appointed Christoph Burkhard, 62, as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026. Burkhard succeeds Volker Herdin, who will retire at the end of September 2026.

Burkhard brings experience from cyclical industries, having previously served as CFO for construction equipment manufacturer Wacker Neuson and wind turbine maker Nordex. In his new role, he will oversee finance, controlling, investor relations, M&A, accounting, legal, tax, and information security.

The appointment comes as the company manages declining demand, reporting a revenue of 2.29 billion euros and an EBITDA margin of 6.6 percent for the 2025/26 fiscal year. Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Martin Sonnenschein emphasized that Burkhard’s expertise in international financing and sustainable cash flow generation is a critical priority for the group.
