Heidenheim police mistakenly raid wrong apartment during SEK operation

German special forces (SEK) mistakenly raided the wrong apartment in Heidenheim during an operation on August 25. The error occurred after a witness reported seeing a man with what appeared to be a submachine gun in an apartment building.

The resident, 21-year-old Lisa Krause, was on vacation at the time of the incident. Upon her return, she discovered her door was damaged and the lock had been replaced. She was able to view the entire raid via her home security camera, which captured the officers entering the living room.

Police spent approximately two hours in the apartment before realizing the mistake. The Ulm Police Headquarters has declined to specify why the wrong door was targeted, citing tactical investigation reasons, but a spokesperson stated that while such errors should not happen, they can occur. The police have committed to covering the costs of the damages caused by the operation.
