Heilung ends hiatus to record new album and release ‘Sagas’

The Nordic ritual collective Heilung has announced the end of its hiatus. The group plans to return to Lava Studios this October to begin recording their fourth full-length studio album.

In addition to the new album, the collective is preparing a special release titled ‘Sagas’. This project features music recorded during an eight-year collaboration with game developer Ninja Theory for the title ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II’. The release will include previously unheard material and raw recordings inspired by Icelandic landscapes, such as ice caves and volcanoes, that were not included in the original game soundtrack.

In a statement, the group noted that their creative process involves immersing themselves in a bubble to escape the noise of the outside world, stating, “In German, Heilung means healing. It speaks to one of the core intentions for our project: to heal.”
