Heineken Romania expands sustainable brewing as Bucharest promotes kitchen recycling
Heineken Romania says sustainability is embedded in everyday operations. Manager of Sustainability Georgiana Ciurba explained that the company sources most raw materials locally, reuses water, converts spent grain into animal feed, recovers residual heat with modern heat‑pump systems at its Craiova and Mureș breweries, and pursues biogas recovery, efficient equipment and fleet modernization to lower environmental impact.
Salubrizare Sector 5, Bucharest’s waste‑management agency, urges residents to start recycling at the kitchen sink. It recommends a simple three‑container setup – one for plastic and metal, one for paper and cardboard, and one for food waste – and easy habits such as quickly rinsing packaging, emptying the food‑waste bin regularly and using lids to avoid odors and insects. The aim is to cut household waste sent to landfills and keep the city cleaner.
