Heineken to build Asia's largest brewery in Vietnam
Heineken is expanding its presence in Vietnam with plans to construct what it intends to be the largest brewery in Asia. This move follows the company's decision to close its brewery in Singapore to shift focus toward the Vietnamese market.
Since entering Vietnam in 1991, the Dutch brewing giant has invested approximately $1 billion. The company has committed an additional $500 million over the next five to ten years. Jacco van der Linden, Heineken's President for the Asia-Pacific region, identified Vietnam as one of the most attractive beer markets globally due to its scale and high per capita consumption.
While Heineken and Tiger currently lead the premium segment in Vietnam, the company aims to penetrate the mass-market segment. To compete with established local producers like Sabeco and Habeco, Heineken plans to expand its portfolio using local brands such as Larue and Bivina.
