Heiner Backhaus joins Beijing Guoan as U20 coach

Football coach Heiner Backhaus has joined the Chinese club Beijing Guoan as the trainer for their U20 junior team. Seeking a change after managing several traditional clubs, Backhaus stated his desire to focus on player development and establishing a unified playing philosophy from the U15 to U20 levels.

Reflecting on his previous tenure at Eintracht Braunschweig, which ended in March, Backhaus addressed the circumstances surrounding his dismissal. He criticized the club's winter planning, noting that a promised training camp did not take place and that key players were not adequately replaced following their departures. He also noted that injuries to regular starters significantly impacted the squad's capabilities during that period.
