Heiner Lauterbach to tour Germany with program on American literature

German actor and voice actor Heiner Lauterbach is preparing for a literary and musical tour in Germany titled ‘Like a Hobo’, scheduled for February and March. The program explores the literary DNA of the United States, featuring recitations of works by authors such as Mark Twain, John Steinbeck, William Faulkner, and Truman Capote, accompanied by the Cologne Blues Club.

Lauterbach expressed confidence in the self-healing capabilities of American democracy, noting that the United States has historically survived significant crises, including the Civil War, the McCarthy era, and the Vietnam War. While describing Donald Trump as a ‘bizarre and destructive appearance’, he suggested that the American people would endure the remaining two years of his term. The tour aims to present a realistic view of the country, reflecting on themes like poverty, racism, and division as depicted by great American writers.
