Heino Höppner, founder of Mini Mundo in Gramado, dies at 79

Heino Höppner, the founder of the Mini Mundo theme park in Gramado, passed away on Monday, September 28, at the age of 79. The park administration announced his death, noting his role as a pioneer in the tourism and hospitality sectors of the region.

Höppner, the son of Otto and Ritta Höppner, helped develop the park's early structures. What began in 1979 as a family project involving a dollhouse and a small railway eventually became Gramado's first theme park when it officially opened to the public on December 15, 1983. Following the death of his father in 1986, Heino took on a leadership role in expanding the park and its various miniature replicas.

In addition to Mini Mundo, Höppner contributed to the consolidation of the Hotel Ritta Höppner. In observance of his passing, the Mini Mundo theme park scheduled a closure for Tuesday, September 29, with normal operations expected to resume on Wednesday, September 30.
