Heino undergoes heart surgery to prevent heart attack

German Schlager singer Heino, 87, has revealed that he underwent heart surgery in June to prevent a potential heart attack. The procedure, performed at the University Hospital Salzburg, involved the insertion of two stents to keep his coronary arteries open.

Despite a routine ultrasound in May showing no issues, Heino’s manager, Helmut Werner, insisted on a more detailed scintigraphy scan. This specialized test identified narrowed coronary arteries that had not been detected previously. Heino credited the extra precaution with saving his life, noting that he had experienced no symptoms prior to the discovery.

Heino reported that he has recovered well and feels fit, even returning to the stage shortly after the operation. He used the experience to urge fans to prioritize medical preventative care.
