Heirs Life Assurance appoints Pastor Jerry Eze to board

Heirs Life Assurance, a member of Tony Elumelu’s Heirs Holdings Group, has appointed Pastor Jerry Eze as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective August 10, 2026. The appointment aims to increase insurance penetration in Nigeria, which currently remains below one per cent. Tony Elumelu, chairman of Heirs Life Assurance, stated that Eze’s influence could help deepen financial inclusion and build public trust in an industry often met with skepticism regarding claims and payouts.

Eze, the founder of Streams of Joy ministry and the NSPPD prayer platform, brings a background in development communications with international organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations Population Fund. He holds degrees in History, International Relations, and Business Administration. Unlike clergy who serve on boards of institutions owned by their churches, Eze holds no stake in Heirs Life Assurance and was brought in for strategic oversight.

In a separate personal reflection, Eze discussed the early challenges of his marriage, noting that he once considered ending the relationship during a period of intense domestic turbulence. He shared that a change in perspective, viewing marriage as an assignment rather than a destination, helped him navigate those difficulties and improve his relationship with his wife.
