Helcim raises C$53 million in Series C funding led by BDC Capital

Helcim, a Calgary-based payments processor for small and medium-sized businesses, has closed a C$53 million Series C funding round. The round was led by BDC Capital’s Growth Venture Fund and included participation from Curql Collective and Gold House Ventures, alongside returning investors such as Headline and Aquiline.

The company's valuation has reached C$250 million, a significant increase from its C$97 million valuation during its 2024 Series B. Helcim reported crossing C$150 million in annual recurring revenue last year.

Helcim aims to use the capital to expand its platform, grow its team, and move up-market. The company is positioning itself to fill a market gap created as large Canadian banks sell or outsource their merchant services operations. Additionally, Helcim is expanding partnerships with regional banks and credit unions seeking modern payment platforms for their small business members.
