Helen Mirren to receive Douglas Sirk Prize at FilmFest Hamburg
British Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren will be honored with the Douglas Sirk Prize at the FilmFest Hamburg. The 81-year-old actress is scheduled to personally accept the award on September 29.
Festival director Malika Rabahallah praised Mirren as one of the great actresses of international cinema, noting her ability to bring humanity and complexity to iconic roles. The award recognizes her significant contributions to film culture and the industry over a career spanning more than six decades.
Following the ceremony, the festival will screen ‘Ein Talent fürs Morden’ (A Talent for Murder), directed by Anton Corbijns, in which Mirren portrays the writer Patricia Highsmith. The film is set for a German theatrical release on November 5. The FilmFest Hamburg runs from September 24 to October 3, featuring over 120 films.
