Helena Elver and Mie Højlund reunite with Danish national handball team

Handball players Helena Elver and Mie Højlund have reunited on the Danish national team for the first time since October 2025. National coach Helle Thomsen noted that the duo possesses a unique synergy, characterized by high-level play and similar tactical thinking.

The pair previously demonstrated strong chemistry while playing together for Odense Håndbold and during the Paris Olympics. While their club paths have since diverged—with Højlund remaining in Odense and Elver moving to the Hungarian club Györ—their reunion offers new tactical advantages. Thomsen highlighted that Elver’s recent experience in Hungary has enhanced her defensive capabilities, potentially allowing the duo to provide greater continuity between offense and defense for the national team.

Although Mie Højlund is unable to travel to Romania for upcoming matches due to illness, the recent training camp allowed the coach to begin working with the pair again.
