Jan and Helena Englert perform together on ‘Taniec z Gwiazdami’

During a family-themed episode of the television program ‘Taniec z Gwiazdami’, actress Helena Englert performed a dance alongside her 83-year-old father, Jan Englert. The performance began as an elegant waltz before transitioning into a high-energy rock and roll routine. During the dance, Jan Englert removed his jacket to reveal a shirt with the message ‘GO HELA!’ written in red. The duo received 38 points from the jury and a standing ovation from the audience.

The appearance has reignited public debate regarding nepotism in the Polish entertainment industry. Helena Englert has previously addressed online harassment and the psychological toll of being criticized for her family connections. In response to these accusations, actor Daniel Olbrychski defended her, stating that a famous surname often brings higher expectations and harsher criticism rather than simple advantages.

Judge Iwona Pavlović also commented on the situation, suggesting that while connections exist in life, talent remains the deciding factor for professional longevity. She noted that if Helena lacked ability, her father would not have supported her professional pursuits, such as her role at the National Theatre.
