Helensburgh charity football matches raise £15,000 for local causes

The organizer of the annual Old Firm charity match in Helensburgh has continued fundraising efforts to support local schools and community causes. Now in its third year, the event brings together local players to set aside rivalries for charitable purposes.

Since 2023, the matches have raised a total of £15,000. The initiative has also distributed over 200 footballs to local children, schools, and organizations, along with 20 pairs of football boots to local youngsters and Street League participants.

Recent matches included a high-scoring contest where Monday Football defeated Thursday Football 11–9, and a second match between Lucky 13 Barbershop / Monday and Thursday Football against MCL Motor Services, which ended in an 8–8 draw before being decided by penalties.
