Heli Company accused of double-billing Czechia and Slovakia for helicopter services
An investigation has revealed that Jaroslav Strnad and his company, Heli Company, have been collecting multiple payments for the same helicopter emergency services from different countries.
Reports from the Investigative Center of Ján Kuciak (ICJK) indicate that both the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been paying for the same aircraft to be on standby. While the Slovakian ministry responded to the findings by providing two replacement UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, the situation in the Czech Republic remained unchanged, and contracts with Strnad were subsequently extended.
Both the Czech and Slovak contracts explicitly prohibit the sharing of standby helicopters with other nations, requiring a specific response time of 45 minutes during fire threats. Further investigations suggest that the company also holds a contract in Cyprus for similar services.
