Helicopters deployed for storm cleanup near Rathen

In the Rathen area of Saxon Switzerland, cleanup operations are underway following severe storm damage. Because the terrain around Amselsee and the Felsenbühne is difficult to access for large forestry machinery, helicopters are being used to transport fallen trees.

Sachsenforst reported that trees must be cleared from the spectator areas and the roof of the main building at the Felsenbühne. The operation, which involves cutting wood with chainsaws and preparing it via tree climbers, is expected to take approximately 15 working days. An Austrian specialized company is providing helicopter support, with flights occurring at five-minute intervals.
