Helios Towers and UNICEF partner to expand digital learning in Africa

Helios Towers and UNICEF have entered into a multi-year partnership to expand internet connectivity and digital learning access for children and young people across Africa. The collaboration aims to support two flagship UNICEF initiatives: Giga, a joint project with the International Telecommunication Union to connect every school to the internet by 2030, and the Learning Passport, a program providing flexible digital learning tools that function both online and offline.

The partnership will leverage Helios Towers’ telecommunications infrastructure expertise and engineering capabilities to advance school connectivity mapping and infrastructure development. Initial efforts will focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, and Tanzania, with plans to extend support to an additional country in West Africa. The initiative seeks to address the needs of Africa’s rapidly growing youth population by providing the digital skills necessary for participation in future economies.
