Helios Towers RDC reaches 3,000 telecommunications sites
Helios Towers RDC has announced that it has reached a milestone of operating 3,000 telecommunications sites across the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This achievement marks 15 years of the company’s operations in the country.
The company’s infrastructure currently supports mobile coverage for more than 40 million people. Of the 3,000 sites, 673 are located in rural areas, facilitating communication services in difficult-to-access regions. These sites enable essential services including mobile payments, digital information access, and mobile messaging.
To mark this milestone, the company inaugurated a new site, Kin Rocade 4, in the Mwadi/Kikimi IV neighborhood of the N’Sele commune. This site is part of a strategic development along the Kinshasa bypass. Maixent Bekangba, Director General of Helios Towers RDC, emphasized that these physical infrastructures are vital for the digital economy, while Minister of Posts and Telecommunications José Mpanda noted that the sites provide access to education, health, and financial services.
