Heliot Ramos struggles to find rhythm with New York Yankees

New York Yankees outfielder Heliot Ramos is struggling to find consistency following his acquisition from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for prospects Henry Lalane and Kaeden Kent. Since joining the team on August 4, Ramos has faced significant offensive challenges, entering recent games with a batting average as low as .077 and a .371 OPS over 12 appearances.

Despite the poor statistical start, Yankees manager Aaron Boone has expressed support for the player. Boone noted that Ramos has dealt with “tough luck,” pointing to a significant discrepancy between his actual weighted on-base average (wOBA) of .178 and his expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) of .299. This gap suggests that while the contact quality has been relatively high, the results have not translated into hits.

Boone also attributed some of the struggle to Ramos being used in the middle of the lineup against a high volume of right-handed pitchers, which is not his ideal platoon role. The manager suggested that Ramos may be “pressing” to prove himself to the new club but emphasized that the organization still views him as a high-quality hitter.
