Heliövaara and Patten fall in US Open men's doubles semifinals
The US Open men's doubles campaign for top-seeded pair Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten ended in the semifinals. The duo lost to the fifth-seeded team of Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski with a score of 7-6(4), 6-2.
Heliövaara and Patten, who currently hold the world number one ranking in men's doubles, had reached the semifinals without losing a service game in their previous four matches. However, Harrison and Skupski secured three breaks of serve during the semifinal match to secure their place in the final.
Following the match, Heliövaara credited his opponents for their performance, noting that at this level of competition, opponents are capable of playing at a high enough standard to overcome even the top seeds. Harrison and Skupski will advance to face the sixth-seeded pair, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, in the final.
