Hellenic Coast Guard leadership meets with Federation over housing and reforms

The Panhellenic Federation of Coast Guards met with the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Christos Kontorouchas, to discuss several critical institutional issues. A primary focus of the meeting was the housing crisis facing personnel on islands across the country, with specific mention of the Northern Sporades.

Other key topics included personnel transfers, the reinforcement of Coast Guard authorities, and the potential removal of Coast Guard members from the Military Penal Code and disciplinary law. The Federation also proposed upgrades to the Personnel Mutual Aid Account, which covers expenses for serious medical conditions.

Additionally, the representatives discussed the importance of establishing a dedicated Coast Guard Academy to support the new recruitment process via national examinations. The meeting concluded with discussions on the unification of mutual funds and a commitment to supporting leadership in improving the quality of work across all ranks.
