Hellenic Coast Guard representatives meet with Greek Deputy Finance Minister

Representatives of the Hellenic Coast Guard (L.S. - EL. AKT), including active and retired personnel, met with the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Dimitris Markopoulos, to discuss institutional and economic demands. The meeting aimed to address inequalities and restore what representatives described as past injustices.

Key demands presented include the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th month salaries and pensions to mitigate financial losses. Other central issues involve the abolition of the solidarity contribution and the rational utilization of the MTN reserves held at the Bank of Greece to ensure the coverage of dividends and other benefits.

Specific requests from the POEPLS and PEALS unions include adjusting compensation for work performed beyond the standard five-day week, which has remained unchanged for 23 years, and extending border allowances to Coast Guard personnel. Additional demands include the issuance of administrative allowances, the extension of the combat five-year period for service recognition, and the provision of double rent allowances.
