Hellenic Dental Federation launches campaign against dental misinformation

The Hellenic Dental Federation (EOO) has launched a nationwide awareness campaign to protect citizens from misinformation and misleading advertisements regarding dental treatments. The campaign specifically targets deceptive content circulating on social media and the internet.

According to the Federation, these advertisements often promise ‘perfect smiles in one day,’ offer extremely low prices, or use ‘before and after’ photos to market dental services as travel-style deals. The EOO warns that such content can create the false impression that complex dental procedures are simple, fast, and identical for everyone.

The Federation emphasizes that every mouth is unique and requires a personalized scientific evaluation. They note that a single photograph cannot reveal a patient's medical history, the materials used, potential risks, or the necessity of follow-up care. Furthermore, the EOO cautions that an artificially low initial price does not guarantee lower total costs, as poorly planned treatments may lead to the need for additional interventions and increased financial burdens, as well as risks to general health.
