Hellenic Dermatological and Aphrodisiac Society launches awareness campaign

The Hellenic Dermatological and Aphrodisiac Society (EDAE) has launched an awareness and sensitization campaign focused on autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases. The initiative aims to educate the public about conditions that often remain unrecognized by the general population despite affecting many people.

Targeted conditions include psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, alopecia areata, and hidradenitis suppurativa. The campaign highlights that the severity of these symptoms can disrupt daily life, impact psychological well-being, and reduce overall quality of life. Furthermore, the society notes that ignorance regarding these diseases can lead to social stigma and isolation for patients.

The campaign, which began in mid-September and runs through mid-November, aligns with global awareness days for atopic dermatitis (September 14) and psoriasis (October 29). The initiative emphasizes that early diagnosis and systematic treatment in collaboration with dermatologists can help manage symptoms and improve patient outcomes.
