Hellenic Fire Service denies reports of supply shortages in West Attica

The Hellenic Fire Service has issued a clarification regarding reports that firefighters operating in West Attica were left without adequate food and water during recent wildfire operations. The agency stated that such reports do not reflect reality.

According to the Fire Service, administrative measures were implemented to ensure that all personnel on the ground—including firefighters, volunteer firefighters, forest officials, and supporting staff—had access to necessary supplies. Food and water were distributed organized by sector using Fire Service vehicles. The agency emphasized that there was not only sufficiency but a surplus of available quantities.

The Fire Service also acknowledged the contributions of volunteers, organizations, businesses, and private citizens who provided food and water of their own initiative. While these contributions are welcomed and serve as a significant supplement to official efforts, the agency clarified that they do not replace the organized administrative care provided by the state.
