Hellenic Police deploy portable 3D radar systems

The Hellenic Police is increasingly deploying advanced, portable radar systems to monitor Greek roads. These new units, similar to the TraffiStar S290M, utilize 3D technology and high-resolution cameras capable of monitoring up to six lanes of traffic simultaneously, including vehicles moving in different directions.

The primary advantage of these systems is their portability and rapid deployment capabilities. Because they can be moved quickly between locations, they bypass the traditional method of drivers memorizing fixed camera points to avoid speeding fines. This mobility makes it difficult for navigation apps like Waze to provide reliable warnings, as the devices can be relocated before users can report their presence.

Additionally, these systems can be placed in elevated positions to record violations without a visible police presence. They also include features for the automatic detection of violators using the Emergency Lane (LEA).
