Hellenic Train halts Thessaloniki‑Serres service after technical fault

A Hellenic Train operating the ThessalonikiSerres route (train 1634) became immobilized at Muries station at 16:29 on 17 July 2026 due to a technical failure. The train was carrying 61 passengers.

To maintain service, the operator will substitute the affected segment with buses, running between Muries and Serres without stops at Strymona and Skoutosa. The opposite‑direction service, train 1635 (SerresThessaloniki), will also be run entirely by bus, bypassing several stations including Skoutosa, Strymona, Doiarini, Cherso, Metallikos, Pedino, Gallikos and Nea Filadelfia. Hellenic Train stated it is investigating the cause of the fault and thanked passengers for their understanding.
