Hellenic Train reports pedestrian struck by suburban train near Ancient Corinth

A man was struck by a suburban train early Thursday morning near Ancient Corinth on the route toward Zeuglatio. The individual was reportedly rendered unconscious following the incident.

Hellenic Train issued a statement noting that the driver of train 1301, which was carrying 80 passengers from Kiato to Piraeus, spotted a person on the tracks near Corinth station at 05:40. The driver followed emergency protocols by activating the automatic braking system and sounding warning signals, but was unable to avoid the collision.

Emergency services, including the Fire Service, Police, and EKAV, attended the scene. The train remained stationary until 06:51 to allow authorities to complete their procedures. The incident has caused delays and potential schedule modifications on the Piraeus–Kiato line. Hellenic Train is cooperating with authorities to investigate the causes of the accident.
