Hellenic Train takes railway unions to court over planned strike

Hellenic Train has initiated legal action against railway unions regarding a planned strike scheduled for October 30. The company’s move has drawn sharp criticism from the PAME labor organization, which accuses the rail operator of attempting to criminalize industrial action.

PAME has linked the company’s management to the responsibility for the Tempi train crash that resulted in 57 deaths, arguing that the privatization and commercialization of the railway system have compromised safety. The labor group stated that the strike is a protest against a 'policy of profit' and is being conducted in solidarity with other workers, including dockworkers, to demand safety and rights.

The upcoming October 30 action is part of a broader coordinated effort involving workers from 113 ports worldwide, under the slogan ‘We do not work for war’.
