Hellenic Train to run temporary bus substitutions on Athens‑Thessaloniki line June 22‑24

From 22 to 24 June 2026, Hellenic Train will replace rail services on the Athens‑Thessaloniki corridor between Leianokladi and Thessaloniki with bus connections. The change follows scheduled restoration works on the Leianokladi‑Larissa segment, part of a programme to repair infrastructure damaged by the extreme weather events Elias and Daniel.

Trains IC50 and IC56 will run only as far as Leianokladi; passengers will board Hellenic Train buses to Thessaloniki, Platy, Katerini or Palaiofarsalo‑Larissa. In the opposite direction, IC51 and IC57 will bring travelers from Thessaloniki to Leianokladi, where they will continue by train to Athens. Specific bus services include direct routes Thessaloniki‑Leianokladi (05:55, 16:49), Platy‑Leianokladi (06:20, 17:14), Katerini‑Leianokladi (06:43, 17:37) and a combined Thessaloniki‑Platy‑Katerini‑Larissa‑Palaiofarsalo service ending at Leianokladi. Suburban services between Larissa and Thessaloniki will operate normally. Hellenic Train advises passengers to check official channels for the latest timetable information.
