Helleniq Energy opens ‘Park of the Senses’ in Western Thessaloniki
Helleniq Energy, under its corporate social responsibility program, created the “Park of the Senses” in the Ampelokipon‑Menenes municipality of western Thessaloniki. More than 100 employees of the company and their families volunteered to plant trees, aromatic plants and herbs and to carry out aesthetic renovations.
The new vegetation is estimated to absorb about 225 kg of CO₂ in its first year and up to 7.9 tonnes over a decade. The increased greenery should lower summer temperatures by 3‑6 °C and act as a natural filter for atmospheric pollutants, improving local air quality. Municipality officials, including Mayor Lazaro Kyrizoglu, said the park substantially enhances daily life for residents and enriches urban biodiversity.
