HelloFresh to close Swedesboro distribution center, cutting 374 jobs

HelloFresh has announced the closure of its Swedesboro, New Jersey, distribution center, resulting in the loss of 374 jobs by November. A company spokesperson stated the decision follows an operational footprint review intended to improve efficiency, noting that operations will be integrated into the company’s broader fulfillment network. Affected employees may be eligible for severance, healthcare support, and internal transfer opportunities.

In South Jersey, Gerresheimer is also cutting 139 jobs at its pharmaceutical glass plant in Vineland, with operations expected to shift to sites in North Carolina and Mexico by next July.

Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco criticized the closures, citing them as evidence of a declining business climate in New Jersey. Bucco argued that state policies and recent business taxes are making the region less competitive, pointing to other companies such as Mars Wrigley, Samsung, and ExxonMobil that have recently reduced their presence in the state.
