Hellweg and BayWa hardware stores begin liquidation sales in Germany

Retailers Hellweg and BayWa Bau & Garten are undergoing self-administered restructuring processes following insolvency proceedings opened by the Essen District Court in late August.

In Lower Saxony, Hellweg has initiated liquidation sales at its Langenhagen, Bad Nenndorf, and Wolfenbüttel locations. The company confirmed that all inventory, including tools, building materials, and garden equipment, is being sold at reduced prices while supplies last. The Wolfenbüttel store remains open for the time being.

Meanwhile, the BayWa Bau & Garten location in Bad Hersfeld has also begun a liquidation sale. While buyers have been secured for 17 other BayWa markets, no investor has yet been found for the Bad Hersfeld site. If no buyer is identified, the location faces closure by the end of November. Precautionary terminations have already been issued to employees at locations without takeover solutions to ensure planning security during the proceedings.
