Helmond launches second edition of free adult lifestyle program

The free lifestyle programHeel Helmond Beweegt’ is set to begin its second edition on September 8 in Helmond, Netherlands. The twelve-week initiative is designed to help adults improve their physical activity and make healthier lifestyle choices through a low-threshold approach.

Organized by Jibb+ in collaboration with Helmond Sport and De Fysioclub, the program takes place at Campus De Braak. Participants meet weekly for exercise sessions led by community sports coaches, supplemented by workshops focusing on nutrition, relaxation, motivation, and goal setting. The program is free of charge and limited to 30 residents aged 18 and older.

The initiative addresses local health challenges; data from the 2024 Health Monitor indicates that only 45 percent of adults in Helmond meet national physical activity guidelines, compared to a national average of 48.9 percent. Additionally, 56 percent of adults in the city are overweight. The first cohort of the program reported high satisfaction, giving the trajectory an average rating of 9.6.
