Helmond police launch community outreach initiative

The Helmond police have launched a new initiative called ‘Politie on tour’ to increase community engagement. The program features low-threshold meetings held at various locations throughout the city to foster positive connections between officers and residents.

During these sessions, citizens—particularly children—can interact with officers, view police vehicles, and try on equipment such as heavy vests and handcuffs. Neighborhood officer Niels Kanters noted that the initiative aims to show that contact with the police can be a positive experience. The sessions are scheduled for Wednesday afternoons to ensure local youth are available to participate. Following the initial event in the city center, the police plan to continue the program in other neighborhoods, including Helmond Noord.
