Helmut Fricke to release 9/11 photographic legacy

Photojournalist Helmut Fricke is releasing his photographic legacy of the September 11 attacks, titled ‘9/11 – Under Attack’. Fricke, who was in Manhattan during the attacks, spent ten days documenting the events, including the destruction of the World Trade Center, using analog equipment such as a Leica M6.

The collection, which features primarily black-and-white images supplemented by selected color photographs, will be exhibited in Frankfurt am Main in September 2026. In conjunction with the exhibition, the works will be offered for the first time as limited FineArt editions through the Hahnemühle MyArtRegistry platform.

The prints will be produced on Hahnemühle hemp-based papers, specifically Hemp Glossy Baryta for black-and-white motifs and Hemp for color motifs. The choice of hemp paper is intended to reference historical writing materials used during the era of the American founding fathers.
