Helsinki Biennial announces 2027 theme and artist lineup

The Helsinki Biennial has announced its return for the summer of 2027, running from June 6 to September 19. Following a record-breaking previous edition that drew over 500,000 visitors, the fourth iteration will center on the theme ‘Unknowns’.

The event will feature approximately 45 artists and collectives from Finland and around the world. The exhibition will integrate contemporary art with natural and urban landscapes, utilizing locations such as Vallisaari Island, Esplanade Park, and the HAM Helsinki Art Museum.

The first 12 confirmed participants include Ari Bayuaji, Tara Donovan, Laurent Grasso, Marguerite Humeau, Matias Karsikas, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Ragnhild May, Yoshitomo Nara, Josefina Nelimarkka, and Tawatchai Puntusawasdi.
