Helvetia Baloise reports 631.6 million CHF underlying profit for H1 2026
Helvetia Baloise reported a strong underlying profit of 631.6 million Swiss francs for the first half of 2026, driven by operational performance and successful integration following its merger. The group’s annualized return on adjusted equity reached 18.7%, exceeding its internal target range of 16% to 18%.
Despite the strong underlying results, IFRS net profit was significantly lower at 84.6 million Swiss francs. This was primarily due to a 671.7 million Swiss franc accelerated amortization of intangible assets related to the merger. The company noted that this write-down does not impact its ability to pay dividends.
The integration process is progressing faster than anticipated. The group has already secured nearly 50% of its 650 million Swiss franc long-term synergy target, and has raised its year-end 2026 forecast for captured synergies to 60%. In the non-life segment, the group achieved a combined ratio of 92%, which management attributed to underwriting discipline.
