Heřmanice cottage linked to 2021 murder is up for sale

A cottage in Heřmanice, located in the Česká Lípa region, is currently on the market for nearly 3.5 million CZK. Real estate listings describe the property as a “charming and peaceful place” with the atmosphere of traditional rural living, but the advertisements do not mention the violent crime that occurred on the premises.

In 2021, a senior woman, Růžena Hájková, killed her partner during an argument by striking him in the head with an axe handle. Following the incident, she attempted to dispose of the body by dismembering it and burning the remains on the property for several days. She later disposed of the ashes in a nearby stream.

Hájková was sentenced to twelve years in prison for the crime. The property was subsequently sold to new owners who have partially renovated it, but they are now looking to sell the house again. The real estate agent, Petr Linhart, stated that while the history is not in the advertisement, interested parties would be informed of the tragedy during viewings.
