Hemant Soren performs Shraddh rituals for mother in Ramgarh
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren performed the ‘Shraddh’ post-death rituals for his mother, Rupi Soren, at his ancestral village of Nemra in the Ramgarh district. Rupi Soren, the 80-year-old wife of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) founder and former Chief Minister Shibu Soren, passed away on October 7 while receiving treatment in Ranchi.
The ceremonies followed the Dashakarma ritual, and the Chief Minister underwent tonsuring as part of the customary rites. Thousands of people from Jharkhand and neighboring states gathered in Nemra to attend the ‘Sanskar Bhoj’, a traditional post-cremation feast.
Local administration officials implemented significant security measures and logistical arrangements to manage the large crowds, including the deployment of security forces, the establishment of three helipads for VIP arrivals, and the provision of e-rickshaws to transport visitors from parking areas to the village. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and yoga guru Baba Ramdev were among those who attended to pay their respects.
