Hemant Soren targeted by BJP in Jharkhand political row
A political confrontation has emerged in Jharkhand following a social media post by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeting Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The BJP used an AI-generated image of the leader and labeled him a ‘Dimagi Naxal’ (mental Naxal), accusing his administration of ‘Hitler-like authoritarianism’ and deceiving the state’s youth.
The BJP’s criticism stems from allegations of irregularities, including paper leaks and scams involving the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The party further alleged that student protesters demanding their rights have faced police suppression and fake FIRs.
In response, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) condemned the remarks, questioning whether the BJP considers an elected tribal Chief Minister to be a Naxal. The JMM has sought an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, suggesting the rhetoric may specifically target tribal leadership.
