Hematological disease symptoms require early detection
Medical experts are highlighting the importance of recognizing early warning signs of hematological diseases, which often present with non-specific symptoms. Valentina Gallart, medical director of Amgen México, notes that while many symptoms appear common, persistent or recurrent signs should be monitored.
Key indicators include unexplained fatigue, frequent infections, and bruising without an apparent cause. When these symptoms occur alongside bone pain, fever, paleness, or unexplained weight loss, medical consultation is advised. Such manifestations can be associated with conditions such as multiple myeloma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).
Early identification is critical for determining the origin of symptoms and initiating timely treatment. According to 2022 GLOBOCAN estimates, multiple myeloma—a cancer affecting plasma cells—accounted for approximately 188,000 new cases globally, ranking as the 21st most incident cancer.
