Hempel and Maersk sign three-year global hull coatings agreement
Hempel A/S has entered into a three-year global agreement with A. P. Moller – Maersk to provide hull coatings for a significant portion of the shipping company’s 2026 to 2028 dry dock programme.
The partnership aims to enhance vessel efficiency and support decarbonization goals. Hull condition is a critical factor in maritime operations, as it directly impacts fuel consumption, operating costs, and CO2 emissions. Beyond the supply of coatings, the two companies will collaborate on joint initiatives to improve dry docking excellence and in-service vessel performance.
Hempel’s Hempaguard silicone range is a central component of the agreement. According to Hempel, these types of applications have historically helped marine customers avoid significant CO2 emissions through improved hull performance.
